The Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance advocates for expanded service-learning opportunities for students in Pennsylvania. PSLA provides professional development for teachers, disseminates information about best practices, and works with schools, districts, and the PA Department of Education to infuse service-learning into the curriculum.
PSLA is comprised of 15 representatives from the K-12, Higher Ed, nonprofit, government, and business sectors. The group meets semi-annually at the PA Department of Education in Harrisburg. Current projects include training and professional development for teachers, development of curriculum materials for the Standards Aligned System (PDE’s curriculum portal), and advocacy with PDE for more supportive policies. PSLA has been supported by a modest grant from the State Farm Companies Foundation, which is managed by the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation.
